Force: a traveling-wave push along the floor under the left half of the bath, decaying with height as exp(−2d/δ). Skin depth δ = √(1 / (π f μ₀ σ)) with σ = 3.8 MS/m for liquid aluminum (approximate).
Flow: 2D incompressible solver (stable fluids) with no-slip walls and floor and a free-slip top. Vorticity confinement and weak drag stand in for turbulence.
Wall force density is held constant. Frequency changes penetration depth only. A real machine also changes thrust with frequency, current and the gap through the refractory.
Field travel speed uses an assumed pole pitch of 0.20 m: vs = 2·τ·f.
Left out: 3D effects, free-surface motion, thermal convection, and any calibration against machine data. Sim time runs about 5× real time.
